Services

Well Women’s Health Clinic

Involves: Blood pressure check, Smoking Status, Lifestyle, allergies, Family History, Relevant Past medical History, Any Current Symptoms, Body Max Index and blood Test if required, Contraception History, Cervical Smear, Sexual Health testing and treatment. Cervical Smear: All women between the age 25-65 will be asked to make an appointment for a cervical smear test, either with the Practice Nurse or Doctor. Please note: Cervical screening it is a test to look for abnormal cell changes on the cervix (neck of the womb), which may turn into cancer over time. Regular screening prevents around 75% of cervical cancers from ever developing.

Family Planing Clinic

Pregnancy results are given to women straight away at the time of the consultation. Please book appointment with the Nurse. Contraception: we provide a full rage of contraception from the Oral Combined Pill (COC) to the Mini-Pill (POP), including Long Acting Reversal Contraception LARC eg Implant, Injection and Insertion and removal of IUD/IUSs. Please be aware you need to book appointment with Dr. J. Groves for Insertion of Implants and IUD’s. All other contraception matter can be deal with the Practice Nurse.

Diabetes Clinic

We offer a lot of literature on diabetes and management including referrals to a programme specific for diabetic patients called the X-Pert programme and also referrals for Digital Retinopathy every year. Diabetic patients can book an appointment any time of the day to check their diabetes which involves, Blood pressure, weight, smoking status, peripheral pulses etc. ,with the exception of a blood test that needs to be done early morning and fasting for at least 10 hours.

Asthma Clinic/ COPD Clinic

-Some patients have functional limitations caused by their breathing difficulties. At the Practice we offer Asthma checks, Spirometry test. Patients can also be referred to COPD Services for South Westminster where the services include: Nurse Led Clinics, Pulmonary Rehabilatation. Hypertension/ Chronic Heart Disease CHD, Cardiovascular Disease Clinics To identify hypertension (persistent raised blood pressure above 140/90mmHg), we ask our patients for at least to return for at least two subsequent appointments where blood pressure is assessed from two readings under the best conditions available. Part of our hypertension clinic is to offer Lifestyle Interventions and Cardiovascular Risk. We may need to formally assess their cardiovascular risk. Tests may help identify diabetes, evidence of hypertension damage to the heart and kidneys, and secondary causes of hypertension such as kidney disease.

Well Baby Clinic/Child Health Clinic

The clinic aims to ensure the wellbeing of children up to the age of five. It is important that your children are fully immunised against childhood diseases. Children’s vaccinations are carried out on Thursday afternoon from 14.00 – 15.30 Our Health Visitor, she’s available for advice and help for all the babies and under 5’s. She will visit all new mums at home after delivery, and is available at our drop-in baby clinic on Thursday afternoon.

Sexual Health Testing and Treatment

Please be aware that we do not provide a walk-in service, we run by appointment only. Appointments can either be booked with the Practice Nurse or Doctors at the Practice. In same cases we may have to refer you Outside the Practice to a Sexual Ttransmitted Infections (STI’s) Clinic. At the Practice we can test you for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphillis, Chlamydia either urine or swab and we also do high vaginal swabs for women.

Smoking Cessation

Our Practice Nurse offers help and support for people who want to give up smoking. Please make an appointment to see the Practice Nurse.

Travel Clinic

We offer a full vaccination programme for foreign travel. We are also register as Yellow Fever Centre. Please Note: Certain Travel Immunisations and anti-malarial prophylaxis are not covered by the NHS. Bellow are the Immunisations free of charge under the NHS and Immunisations that require a Fee. Minor Surgery

Minor surgical procedures are performed every Wednesday afternoon from 14.00-14.45 at the surgery. No need to wait to be referred to the hospital if you have one of the follow: Skin Moles, Skin Papillomas, Seborrhoeia Keratossis, Small Fibromas of the skin or Skin Tags Always need to see Gp first before booking for minor surgery at

Flu Clinic

We strongly recommend that all patients over 65 of age or who fall under the chronic diseases such as Chronic Respiratory disease, Chronic Liver disease, patients with Stroke/Transient Ischaemic Attack TIA, Chronic Degenerative Neurological disease, Chronic Renal disease, Chronic Heart disease, Diabetes and Immunosupression should have an annual Flu Injection. Depending on your age and condition you also may be entitle to an injection against Pneumonia. Please ask your Practice Nurse

 

Other Information

Zero Tolerance

In an attempt to protect staff and patients alike we operate a zero tolerance policy within the Practice where rudeness and abusive behaviour are unacceptable. You will be removed from the list should you be responsible for any form of abuse or violence that occurs to GPs, Nurses other staff or patients on our premises.

Patient Participation Group

From time to time we review various aspects of our service and invite our patients to join us in a group exercise. These sessions are hold in the Practice where patients can ask questions and also provide valuable feedback regarding the service. A poster will be displayed in the waiting area which will inform patient when these group meetings will take place and times. Also the Gp and the Nurse may invite the patient directly during a consultation.

Fees

Certain Services provided are not covered by the NHS and you may be asked to pay a fee eg: Medicals, Passport Photos, Private Certificates, Insurance Claims, and Fitness to Drive, certain Travel Immunisations and some Anti-malarial Prophylaxis. Please ask at the reception for further details.

Home Visits

Urgent Appointments If you need to see a Gp urgently please tell one of our receptionists. Arrangements can be made for you to be seen the same day, but sometimes in situations like this it may not be with your usual doctor. Sick Children if brought to the surgery will always be seen, but please always call the surgery first.

Request Home Visit

Please ring the surgery and provide as much information as possible in order that your details can be passed to the Doctor on duty who will then make an assessment with you over the phone and will take the appropriateness decision of your request. Please note: Lack of transport is not an acceptable reason for a home visit.
