Women's Health

Dr Laskor is our Lead in Women’s Health. She attends regular updates with our local Hospital Consultants and has annual revalidation of her skills making her a real asset to our female patients and their partners. Dr Laskor sees all the pregnant ladies throughout their pregnancy. She fits implants and coils (all types, including the Mirena) here in the surgery, which our ladies find to be very convenient. She is also happy to remove these whenever the lady is ready.

We also test for and treat polycystic ovarian syndrome, female hormone imbalance (such as prolactinoma), fibroids and endometriosis. The full range of sexually transmitted infections can be tested for here, including HIV, Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes and genital warts. We provide pregnancy testing, fertility testing, and menopausal management including hormone replacement therapy..

Nurse Maria spent many years working as a gynaecology nurse in the hospital setting before working in General Practice. She still harbours a keen interest in women’s health, and has carried out a famous local study on the speculum that we use for examination. Nurse Maria is an expert at taking cervical cytology, and provides the full range of contraceptive options including the injection, the morning after pill, as well as sti testing.
